Educational Services for Income Eligible Children & Families
ABOUT
In 1983 a task force of 24 community volunteers met to address the issue of a growing teenage parent population in the County. They received a grant to provide support services for young parents with the goal of keeping them healthy, in school and off public assistance. The new private, non-profit agency was called Assistance to Pregnant and Parenting Teens (APPT).

In 1989 the agency dropped the T and began providing services to women of all ages through First Steps Maternity Case Management. In 1996 APP changed its name to Family Services of Grant County and became a Head Start grantee.

Today FSGC serves 137 children ages birth to five and their families through its Head Start programs. The local Board of Directors and Head Start Policy Council members continue to identify and create services that meet community need.
