EARLY HEAD START

Home Based Program

Early Head Start is dedicated to protecting and strengthening the bonds between parents and children. During their first three years of life, a child's brain is developing the pathways (connections between brain cells) which will imprint the way they learn, move, and interact socially for the rest of their lives. How parents interact with their children in those first three years can have lasting effects on the child's development.

Early Head Start helps children succeed in their subsequent school experiences.

Our Early Head Start Home Based Program provides services for 14 families in Grant County. Parents receive regular 1-1/2 hour home visits from our highly trained staff. Through this process parents learn about and practice offering educational activities to their children.

This is an opportunity for parents to learn things they can do with their child to develop their thinking, motor and social skills.

Family Services Early Head Start Home Based Program offers:
  • Group time for parents to play with their children and socialize with other parents 2 times a month.
  • Short classes for educating parents about their child's development.
  • Playgroups for children to experience a variety of developmentally appropriate toys and activities.
  • A nutritious meal or snack, combining a nice social experience with learning about nutrition, child development, and parent-child interaction.
